JK Ellem was born in London and spent his formative years preferring to read books and comics rather than doing his homework.
He is the innovative author of short chapter, Hitchcock-style adult thrillers in the genres of crime, mystery, and psychological thrillers which have multiple plot lines that culminate in explosive, unpredictable endings that will leave you shocked.
In 2022 he was accepted into the Curtis Brown Creative, Writing Your Novel in Six Months course which he undertook in London while working on his manuscript for future submission.
He splits his time between the US, the UK and Australia.
“I certainly believe physical books and bricks-and-mortar book stores are not dead. In fact I can’t think of anything better than spending a few hours roaming the bookshelves of the nearest Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million store. It’s the first thing I search for when I’m in a new town or new city.
But my readers want immediacy and mobility. They want to tap or click and get my stories in seconds on their devices. They also may not have the time, space or the desire to carry a book around with them on a plane, train or in their bag each day. They have a few precious minutes queuing in line for coffee or sitting on the subway or waiting for a friend where they can open any of my thrillers on their device and escape for a few precious moments from their hectic day.
The e-book format simply allows me to get my thrillers into more hands faster and further. Whether you’re in the US, the UK or hiking in the far reaches of Tibet, as long as you’ve got Internet access, you’ve got my thrillers delivered into your hands in seconds. You can’t get that instant reach with paperback novels.
My books are fast-paced, easy to read, and addictive. People don’t have time anymore. They want a “quick-fix” of escapism from their daily grind and that’s what I give them.
I also want to directly reach out to my readers and I want them to directly reach out to me with their thoughts, ideas, feedback, and even criticisms. I really love hearing from them so I can give them more of what they want. I will always directly reply to any email, comment or message from my readers.
While physical books are great and I certainly won’t stop buying them, we live in such a digitally connected but physically disconnected world. I want to throw off all physical restraints and reach all people globally, no matter where they are.”
